Editable DataTable example - Attaching event handlers

Preamble

DataTable Editable plugin enables you to add event handlers that will be called before/after add, update, and delete actions. Before handlers can stop an action if false value is retured.

In this example handlers that are attached log actions in the trace section.

Initialization code

In the initialization code, you need to define functions that will handle events. Note that "before" handlers have to return true to continue with action.

$(document).ready( function () {
	$('#example').dataTable().makeEditable({
			sUpdateURL: "UpdateData.php",
                    	sDeleteURL: "DeleteData.php",
			sAddURL: "AddData.php",
				fnOnDeleting: function(tr, id)
				{
					$("#trace").append("Deleting row with id " + id);
					return true;
				},
         			fnOnDeleted: function(status)
				{
					$("#trace").append("Deleted action finished. Status - " + status);
				},
            			fnOnAdding: function()
				{
					$("#trace").append("Adding new record");
					return true;
				},
            			fnOnAdded: function(status)
				{
					$("#trace").append("Add action finished. Status - " + status);
				},
            			fnOnEditing: function(input)
				{
					$("#trace").append("Updating cell with value " + input.val());
					return true;
				},
            			fnOnEdited: function(status)
				{
					$("#trace").append("Edit action finished. Status - " + status);
				},
			});

} );
